Camping With Your Dog
If you are going to camp with a dog, it is important that the dog is well-behaved around other people and animals. You must be able to physically restrain your dog in the presence of distractions, such as deer, squirrels and other critters, and prevent the dog from being a nuisance to other campers or animals. This is for both the safety of the dog and for others.
Another good idea is to have your current contact information on your dog's tag. This will help to recover your dog should the dog wander off and get lost. Also, take along the first aid kit with extra bandages and swabs just in case. ← Back to Camping Resources |

Camping with a dog can be a great experience. Dogs discover interesting features you might otherwise overlook, and a dog is thrilled at the new smells and sites of a camp site. Camping with your dog does however require some additional safety information and courtesy to other campers.
It is also importance that your dog's vaccinations be up-to-date, as dogs can encounter unvaccinated animals while camping. Dog licenses should also be current. And ask your vet about the areas where you will be camping/traveling, as some carry additional health risks for dogs and may warrant additional precautions.
